Who is this fresh-faced enigma? What makes him tick? How did he end up at Timeline? Why should you trust him?
Having always had an interest in Financial Services, my first introduction to the industry came as a Transfers Administrator in 2018, for one of the largest Platforms in the UK. I worked in this role whilst completing my Economics degree at Newcastle University.
This experience gave me my first real taste of the industry and exposed me to working with financial advisers for the first time. Once finished with my studies, I returned to the same company but this time swapping administration for my first sales role, focusing on Platform, Multi-Asset Funds and Managed Portfolios.
I joined Timeline as the Business Development Manager for the South West in September 2022. Since then, I have continued to support advisers and have loved being part of the Timeline journey.
We plan to help millions of people retire with confidence. We combine a data driven approach with cutting edge technology to empower financial advisers.
Our model portfolios are designed to help advisers reduce risk, remove the administrative burden associated with maintaining clients' portfolios and maximise returns, all whilst offering industry-leading low costs of just 0.09%.
It's a great team of people with huge expertise and a genuine drive to do good.
Having decided to hang up my boots at the end of the 2022 season, after nearly 20 years of playing rugby, I now spend my weekends unsuccessfully chipping away at the never ending list of DIY jobs. I love all things food and drink and spend as much time as I can travelling with my partner, Lara, and my bonkers spaniel, Harris.
We host regular Timeline Tours via webinar. Here is one hosted by Will to give you a flavour of the man, the myth, the legend - and our awesome proposition, of course!
I’m going to show my age here, but anyway, an Auntie of mine worked at Friends Provident a long time ago. She got me a summer job there and I got intrigued by the complicated world of pensions and investments and ended up staying on.
So, my grounding was in the ‘old style’ world of Life and pensions and I forged a career path through the technical side becoming a Pensions Technical Adviser, a Pensioneer Trustee Representative and then a Pensions Development Manager. It’s essentially the ultimate trifecta of nerdy pensions jobs.
When pensions became ‘simplified’ (that’s a pensions joke by the way – I know, try to hold in the belly laughs) in 2006, the only game left in town was the investment side of things. I had already taken the IMC exam by then as the investment world had really captured my interest so it was an easy decision to transition over to A J Bell in 2007. They offered a sexy combination of online SIPP and stockbroking accounts (irresistible to a pensions and investment geek) which went on to evolve into the full platform we know today.
I’ve long admired Abraham’s ‘no holds barred’ approach to the Financial Services sector so when the opportunity came about to join him and the great team he’s put together, I jumped at the chance.
Our technology led approach to driving down costs whilst also improving the planning and investing experience is super exciting and really struck a chord with me.
I’m tempted to say ‘as little as possible’ but the reality is I do still play football (just not with ‘young people’). I read. A lot. Mainly World War II history (please ask me what the greatest tank was in the European theatre) and I really enjoy jetting off to exotic destinations with my wife Didi.
I have over 30 years’ experience in the Financial Services industry so in the words of one of my hero’s “I drink and I know things”.
I really enjoy showcasing what we can do on both the investment and planning side and finding the ‘best fit’ for an IFA’s business so feel free to book a call with me.
I am also here to provide reliable ongoing support, along with our team of Adviser Success Managers
